Ministry of Higher Education and Research

DRARI

Since 2023, I am Délégué Régional Académique à la Recherche et à l’innovation (DRARI), i.e. Regional Academic Delegate for Research and Innovation, one of the representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research in the Grand Est Academic Region.

I am responsible for monitoring and implementing the Ministry’s policies regarding research and innovation at regional level, in conjunction with the institutional players (Ministry departments, regional education authority, regional prefecture, regional council, local authorities), academic structures (universities, national research bodies) and socio-economic partners (technology transfer companies, incubators, etc.).

The Delegation focuses in particular on research funding, technology transfer from the academic world to businesses, economic intelligence, disseminating scientific culture to the general public.

Research laboratories

IJCLab

From 2020 to 2023, I was deputy director of IJCLab (Laboratoire de Physique des 2 Infinis Irène Joliot-Curie, CNRS/IN2P3, Université Paris-Saclay, Université de Paris).

  • Research laboratory, focused on high-energy physics, experimental techniques and associated large research instruments, with 730 members and a budget of 13 Meuros/year (including 9 Meuros of research contracts).
  • Featuring technological platforms for irradiation and imaging welcoming academic and industrial partners.
  • One of the largest public research laboratories in France, playing a world-leading role in its fields of research, in link with international laboratories such as CERN.

  • Management of the laboratory at HR and financial level
  • Definition and implementation of the scientific, technical and administrative strategy
  • Definition and monitoring of the activities of the laboratory’s research teams, technical services, support services and technological platforms
  • Interaction with the supervisory bodies and academic and industrial partners in France, Europe and abroad

LPT Orsay

I was director of the Laboratoire de Physique Théorique d’Orsay from 2013 to 2019 (CNRS & Université Paris-Sud).

  • Focused on various aspects of theoretical physics along 4 different research components
  • Gathered 60 people, with a recurrent budget excluding salaries 100 keuros/year together with research contracts amounting to 560 keuros/year

  • Scientific and administrative management of the laboratory 
  • Management of the administrative and technical team of the laboratory
  • Interaction with the supervisory bodies (CNRS and University) and the laboratory teams
  • Evaluation of research projects for the CNRS, the University, national, foreign and European funding agencies
  • Preparation from 2017 to 2019 and implementation from 2020 of the merger of 5 laboratories in Orsay in connection with the 730 people concerned and the supervisory authorities

Graduate School Physics

From 2020 to 2023, I was the deputy director for research of the Graduate School of Physics of Université Paris-Saclay.

  • Structure of Université Paris-Saclay gathering 40 or so laboratories from the Saclay area gathering a few thousand people amounting to 15% of the French academic research in physics.
  • Fostering closer links for research and training activities between the various actors constituting Université Paris-Saclay
  • Organised along three research axes Physics of the 2 Infinities, Physics of Waves and Matter, Astrophysics

  • Definition of the scientific strategy of the Graduate School Physics and scientific animation
  • Coordination of the activities at the doctoral level for PhD students in physics (more than 500 registred/year)
  • Search for partnerships (University, IdF Region, Europe)
